Phil Grierson BA MA
Phil Grierson is the Placement Manager for the Faculty of Computing Engineering and Media (CEM) at ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· and current Branch Secretary for ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· UNISON. He was elected as the board’s Professional Services Staff Governor in November 2022.
After studying History and Politics at the University of Leicester, he continued on to study Human Rights and Global Ethics at Master’s level through a university scholarship. During this time, he began working as a Placement Coordinator within CEM. Phil quickly joined ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· UNISON, firstly as a Young Members’ Officer and Steward before becoming Branch Secretary in 2018. Phil represents professional services staff on a range of policy areas as well as supporting individual cases in his role as Branch Secretary.
In recent years, Phil has held a number of roles on secondment as well as on a more permanent basis including roles within the wider Careers Team and as a Placement Tutor within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities, often taking an interest in widening participation and student support. Alongside his professional and union work, Phil is an active member of Leicester Samaritans supporting their ongoing work in reducing suicide. He further contributes through being a member of their Continuous Development and Mentoring Teams.
