We are excited to invite staff and students to our Campus Collective lunchtime drop-in event, designed to help you prepare for COP 29 at ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·. This is a great opportunity to learn how you can contribute by organising activities that coincide with the global climate change conference happening next month.
As world leaders gather in Baku, Azerbaijan for COP 29, ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· will host its annual two-week series of sustainability-focused events on campus. These will include popular initiatives such as the Big River Clean-up, ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·’s annual Climate Awards, carbon literacy training, and much more, with details to be announced soon.
In addition to the university’s planned events, we’re encouraging staff and students to get involved by creating their own activities.
Dr. Mark Charlton, Associate Professor of Sustainable Development, said: “Building on the moment of previous COP activities at ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· and the engagement in the Campus Collective on Sustainability, this drop-in allows staff and students to discuss how they organise their own activities. These events may be anything from sharing an eco-hobby in a presentation to organising a coffee morning, we will have support there to help people put their activity together.”
At the drop-in, you’ll have the chance to connect with the ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· SDG Hub team and staff from People and Organisational Development, who can help you develop and implement your proposals. Activities should take place during COP 29, between 11-22 November, to align with the United Nations climate change talks.
Join us on Tuesday 22 October, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm—feel free to drop in at any time. A buffet lunch will be provided. For catering purposes please confirm your attendance to dmusdg16@dmu.ac.uk
